Corrona Psoriasis Registry to track treatment safety and effectiveness

PORTLAND, Ore. (May 28, 2015)— The first psoriasis patient has joined the Corrona Psoriasis Registry, launching a project that will be critical to informing the future of psoriasis treatments and patient care.

The Corrona Psoriasis Registry is a joint collaboration between the National Psoriasis Foundation and Corrona, LLC, a health research company that sponsors disease registries to advance medical research and improve patient care. Information collected from the registry will be used to conduct research to better understand psoriasis and hopefully improve treatments. Learn more ».

With a plan to enroll more than 10,000 people with psoriasis and follow them for at least eight years, the registry will collect and analyze data to help clinicians, researchers and the pharmaceutical industry compare the safety and effectiveness of psoriasis therapies. Data will be gathered through questionnaires completed by patients and their dermatologists during appointments.

“We’re thrilled to have the first person enrolled in this registry,” said Dr. Bruce Strober, scientific director of the Corrona Psoriasis Registry. “We’ll use this registry to study the relationship between psoriasis and other health conditions, and examine the impact of psoriasis on quality of life.”

The registry is recruiting dermatologists who treat people with moderate to severe psoriasis with biologic or systemic medications.

National Psoriasis Foundation and Corrona, LLC launched a national psoriasis patient registry in April. The registry collects and analyzes clinical data, allowing researchers to compare the safety and effectiveness of psoriasis treatments, better understand psoriasis comorbidities, and explore the natural history of the disease.

  • Patients diagnosed with psoriasis who have started on or switched to a systemic psoriasis treatment (biologic or non-biologic) within the last 12 months are eligible for enrollment.
  • Patients and their treating dermatologists will complete Corrona Psoriasis Questionnaires during routine visits approximately every six months. The Questionnaires take about 10 – 15 minutes to complete.
