The Consortium of Rheumatology Researchers of North America, Inc. (CORRONA) was founded in 2000 by leading rheumatologists dedicated to advancing and improving the care of patients with rheumatic diseases.
CORRONA's mission is to advance rheumatology research and improve the quality of rheumatology patient care. CORRONA is an independent registry without any ownership links to the pharmaceutical industry.
CORRONA was established by thought leaders in the field of rheumatology and arthritis research and treatment. These dedicated clinical professionals understood the need for longitudinal registry of patient data to assist them with understanding the treatment and efficacy of disease.
Joel Kremer, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kremer is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in 1974 where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society. He completed both a residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Rheumatology at The Albany Medical Center Hospital and The Albany Medical College.
Between 1979 and 2000, Dr. Kremer served on the fulltime faculty of The Albany Medical College. He was appointed as a full professor of medicine in 1990 and became the Head of the Division of Rheumatology in 1992. In 2000 he became The Director of Research at The Center for Rheumatology, in Albany, New York. In 2005 he became the first Pfaff Family Professor and Chair in Medicine of The Albany Medical College. James Cavan, MS, Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer
Mr. Cavan brings a strong record of healthcare business leadership to CORRONA, having served executive roles in consulting, medical software and in the academic research environment.
Upon completion of his graduate education he transitioned to the pharmaceutical consulting industry. In this role he became involved with marketing and commercialization plans for drugs and medical products and was successful at lobbying for formulary inclusion and sales plan development. Continue
Jeffrey Greenberg, MD, MPH, Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Greenberg is Associate Director of Clinical and Translational Sciences in the Division of Rheumatology and Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. He also serves as Director of the Arthritis Translational Research Biorepository at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr Greenberg currently oversees the Biomarkers and Predictive Medicine program in the Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence at NYU Langone Medical Center.
He earned his MD degree at McGill University. He completed his internal medicine residency and MPH degree at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He pursued his fellowship training in rheumatology at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. Continue
Allan Gibofsky, MD, JD, Vice President
Dr. Gibofsky is a past President of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Gibofsky is Professor of Medicine and Public Health at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, Professor of Law at Fordham University, and Adjunct Faculty at the Rockefeller University. He is an attending physician and rheumatologist at both Hospital for Special Surgery and The New York Presbyterian Hospital.
A graduate of Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, Dr. Gibofsky received his MD from Cornell University Medical College and his law degree from Fordham University. He did his internship in pathology, followed by a residency in medicine at New York Hospital. He completed a fellowship in rheumatology/immunology jointly at Hospital for Special Surgery under Dr. Charles L. Christian and at The Rockefeller University, where he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Henry G. Kunkel. Dr. Gibofsky has authored or co-authored numerous articles and text chapters, primarily on the immunogenetics of rheumatic diseases and legal aspects of medical practice. He is known for his work on mechanisms of host-microbe interactions in rheumatology and, in particular, for his basic and clinical studies on rheumatic fever. Continue
Timothy Harrington, MD, Chief Quality Officer
Dr. Tim Harrington is has been a practicing rheumatologist in Madison, Wisconsin since 1977, for the last 10 years within the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation. He is a Professor of Medicine in the Rheumatology Division of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. He graduated from the UW Medical School in 1965, trained in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in a research associateship at the National Cancer Institute, and in rheumatology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He joined the faculty of the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio for 7 years before returning to his home in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dr. Harrington has been interested in rheumatology practice improvement throughout his career, serving on The American College of Rheumatology Council on Rheumatologic Practice, the Communications and Marketing Committee, Osteoporosis Task Force, Manpower Task Force, Quality Measures Subcommittee, and as Editor of the ACR News. He has published 17 papers on this topic over the last decade, describing practical practice and system redesigns for musculoskeletal disease care and advocating for health care change. He teaches practice improvement methods and consults with rheumatology practices and health systems in this area. Continue
